Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The offenders pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would require money, then disappears.
