Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the mid and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
