Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Pose as Officials to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance authorities, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear.
