This morning, traffic along the SS45Bis was halted for about 45 minutes due to an incident involving two tourist buses in the first tunnel heading towards Limone. The vehicles, too large to pass through simultaneously, caused a complete traffic jam in both directions. It was only thanks to the prompt intervention of the Carabinieri from Gargnano, who arrived quickly on the scene, that traffic flow was restored around mid-morning.
This is not an isolated incident; in fact, similar problems have occurred in the past on the narrow roads of the Brescia side of Lake Garda. Recently, a speedboat fell off a trailer, completely blocking the roadway in Fasano, and during Easter Monday, an articulated bus became trapped in a tight curve in Gargnano, causing congestion for over an hour. These events highlight an infrastructural fragility that can turn the area’s tourist appeal into a source of inconvenience during peak periods.
