Geological expert Enrico Nucci: Necessary tunnel for safety

Another landslide on the Eastern Gardesana road has once again raised concerns about the safety of this important road that runs along Lake Garda. Geologist Enrico Nucci, a consultant for municipalities in the Garda area and an expert in the field, has emphasized the need to construct a tunnel to secure the Tempesta area.

According to Nucci, Tempesta is one of the most critical sections on the eastern side of the lake, and the construction of a tunnel could provide greater safety. Despite several landslides already occurring in that area, the Province of Trento has not yet taken any action, unlike the Province of Verona, which has implemented similar projects in other locations.

The geologist believes that the conditions for creating a tunnel at Tempesta are favorable, considering the rock’s resistance in that area. There are already tunnels on the same eastern shore of Lake Garda and in the Brescia area, so there would be no insurmountable obstacles to constructing a similar structure at Tempesta.

Naturally, before proceeding, it would be necessary to conduct in-depth studies, but according to Nucci, it would be possible to identify the two safest points for the entrance of the tunnel and construct a tunnel at least 2-300 meters long. Estimating a cost of 40,000 euros per meter, the project could be completed with a budget of approximately ten million euros.

Considering the economic value of the Lake Garda area and the tourism industry it supports, Nucci believes that this investment would be worthwhile. The safety and well-being of people are at stake, making it worth considering this solution.
