Heavy Traffic Swamps Southern Garda After Stragarda Lake Event

Over 3,000 runners participated in the Stragarda Lake event, causing significant traffic disruptions in the lower Garda area. Main roads in Desenzano, including Via Marconi, Via Tommaso dal Molin, and Lungolago Cesare Battisti, reopened at 2:30 PM but immediately experienced heavy congestion, especially near the Sirmione highway exit and the ring road.

Traffic was further affected by the event’s conclusion, with long queues along the coast and slow-moving vehicles, compounded by the regular Sunday return and cold weather. Drivers are advised to avoid the city center and use alternative routes toward Lonato, as traffic is expected to normalize by evening.
