Illegal Hunter Caught Using Homemade Suppressor in Alta Valle Camonica

A poacher was caught in Alta Valle Camonica during illegal hunting activities using a homemade silenced rifle without proper permits, according to the 2025 report from the Provincial Police’s Fish and Hunting Unit. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat poaching and illegal hunting, led by Commander Dario Saleri with a team of 32 officers across the province.

The annual report details 50 criminal charges, 507 administrative sanctions—including 362 related to hunting and 145 to fishing—and various wildlife management activities. These include culling 17,740 pigeons and 208 wild boars for ASF control, over 2,000 animal rescue interventions, and 36 investigations into predator attacks, alongside other emergency responses and monitoring efforts.
