This morning in Desenzano, the fourth Coast Guard station on Lake Garda was inaugurated, marking a significant event for navigation safety in the region. Councillor Franco Lucente announced an investment of €242,000 for 2024, aimed at surveillance, intervention, and rescue services on the Lombard lakes. The signed memorandum of understanding involves several institutions, emphasizing the importance of collaboration to ensure safety in the extensive Garda system.
During the inauguration, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini highlighted how this new facility will enhance safety, recalling that in recent years, a thousand people have been rescued thanks to existing stations. Additionally, he presented two future projects: a cycling path and a connection between the lake and Verona’s Catullo Airport, utilizing the historic Brescia-Verona railway line.
