Lake Garda Safety Focus Grows Ahead of Tourist Season
There has been a longstanding discussion about the need to establish a rescue service on the water as well. Now, however, the issue has gained momentum ahead of the upcoming tourist season.
«Safety on Lake Garda: implementing a lakeside ambulance» is the title of a highly topical conference scheduled for Wednesday, April 18th at 8:30 PM at Palazzo Todeschini in Desenzano, with free admission.
The initiative is promoted by the circolo di An, presided over by Vincenzo Scontrino. Attendees will include the Honorable Paroli, Angelo Foschini (General Director of the Desenzano Hospital Trust), mayors of Desenzano, Sirmione, Padenghe, Toscolano Maderno, Gardone Riviera, Gianfranco Rodella (Lake Garda Volunteers), Gigi Cabrini (President of Fraglia Vela), Paolo Marzollo (Head of «118» Emergency Service), Bruno Faustini (President of the Comunità Montana Alto Garda), and provincial tourism councilor Ermes Buffoli.
The Need for a Lakeside Ambulance
The deployment of a lakeside ambulance has been invoked by various groups, especially during the summer season when roads are often congested.
And if the helicopter ambulance is engaged elsewhere, the lake may become the only rescue route available.
Not to mention rescues carried out directly on site from shipwrecked victims. Sometimes, just a few minutes can be decisive in saving a human life.
