Lazise’s History and Legends: Guided Tour of the Old Town on September 13

Lazise will host a guided tour on Sunday, September 13, 2026, titled “Lazise: Storia e Leggende,” led by licensed guide Francesca Cargnoni. The walk will start at 3:00 p.m. from the Lazise Tourist Information Office on Via Porto Vecchio and will last about two hours, taking participants through medieval walls, alleys, local traditions, and popular stories.

The route will cover key moments in the development of the lakeside town, including the episode traditionally linked to Emperor Otto II’s privilege in 983, often associated with the birth of the first free commune in Italy. It will also address medieval fortifications, the rule of the Scaligeri family, and the presence of the Republic of Venice (the Serenissima), connecting historical and architectural landmarks to traditions that still shape Lazise’s identity.

A second speaker, Dr. Claudia Viani, will discuss how to communicate cultural heritage through digital place branding and sustainable tourism, drawing on her background in communication and digital media. Participation costs €12 for adults, €5 for children aged 6–14, and is free for children aged 0–5; the tour is in Italian and requires mandatory booking.
