In Limone, starting from April 19 until November 1, a new ordinance has come into effect that prohibits the sale of take-away alcoholic beverages and their consumption in public places. This measure, signed by Mayor Franceschino Risatti, aims to ensure urban safety and the decorum of the town center during the peak tourist season. The municipality made this decision to combat the issues of overcrowding and degradation that intensify during the summer months, often exacerbated by the large influx of tourists.
The ban applies to streets, squares, parks, and other public areas, allowing only the transport of alcoholic beverages in closed containers to private homes or accommodation facilities. Bars and restaurants will be permitted to sell alcohol only if it is packaged for take-away. The only exceptions pertain to events organized by the municipality in designated spaces. Penalties for those who violate the ordinance can range from 25 to 500 euros.
