Local Leaders Fight to Protect Valleggio sul Mincio from Ca’ Balestra Landfill Expansion

The mayor of Valeggio sul Mincio, Alessandro Gardoni, met with Veneto regional Environment Minister Elisa Venturini at Palazzo Balbi to discuss the Ca’ Balestra landfill project. The meeting focused on the Progeco SpA company’s proposal to dispose of asbestos, which the Veneto Region has already rejected during the Environmental Impact Assessment due to environmental and health concerns. The company has filed an appeal with the TAR against the region’s decision.

During the discussion, Gardoni reaffirmed the local government’s position to protect the community and environment. Participants agreed to continue dialogue with relevant authorities, also addressing the strategic issue of the local quarry plan.
