The works for the redevelopment of Piazza Corlo in Lonato del Garda have officially concluded. Following the intervention that began last August, the historic northern entrance of the town is now returned to the community with a new layout designed to enhance its attractive potential. With the completion of the construction site, vehicle circulation resumes today, November 12, and new experimental rules for parking and traffic come into effect in the Lago di Garda area. Regular Traffic Resumes The intervention has restored the traffic layout that existed prior to the works. Normal vehicle circulation has been reactivated, allowing access from via Repubblica for those exiting the historic center and towards via Sorattino for those heading into the center. New Parking Regulations (Experimental) The municipal administration has introduced changes to timed parking to encourage more frequent turnover of users for the benefit of services available in the square. This new regulation will be in effect experimentally until June 30, 2025. Here are the detailed changes, valid from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays: North Side (in front of the bakery): Parking is regulated for 30 minutes. There is also a designated space for individuals with mobility disabilities. “Fontanone” Parking (Via Sorattino): The parking limit is set at 1 hour. Via Repubblica: The timed parking of 1 hour has been extended until 7:00 PM, instead of ending at 2:00 PM as before. Via Regia Antica: In the parking spaces near the intersection with the square, a “stop & go” parking of 30 minutes is introduced. The Pedestrian Area and Mayor’s Statements The part of the square most affected by the works is the south side, in front of the Church. Here, the installation of new pavement has defined the area as a forecourt, where parking is prohibited. The area, currently being finalized, will be marked by jersey barriers that will also serve to enforce the prohibition. The Mayor expressed satisfaction with the project’s completion “in full compliance with the timelines set by technicians and professionals.” “From today, Piazza Corlo is being returned, albeit with some details still being finalized, such as the installation of signage, which will be completed in the coming days.” The Mayor added that in the coming months, in collaboration with the Historic Center District Councilors and the President of the Merchants’ Association, the goal will be to assess the functionality of this new layout. Additionally, efforts will be made “on designing urban furniture for the newly pedestrianized side of the square to encourage its use and address the need to enhance the Church.” Italian Version
