Magasa and Valvestino isolated by landslides for almost two months: the daily ordeal of commuters

The municipalities of Magasa and Valvestino remain isolated due to landslides that have compromised the only road connecting them to the lake for nearly two months. Residents are forced to take a long detour, passing through Capovalle, Idro, and Valle Sabbia, before descending to Salò. This route has become a real ordeal for commuters, including the mayor of Magasa, **Federico Venturini**, who spends about two hours each day reaching the town hall. Venturini hopes that by Christmas, the provincial road can be reopened at least for alternating one-way traffic for a few hours in the morning and afternoon.

Meanwhile, work on the **SP9** continues unabated in the Gargnano area, where protective barriers are being installed and the road slope is being reinforced in areas affected by landslides, particularly near the Valvestino dam. This situation has also brought attention back to the project for a tunnel connecting the area with the Giudicarie, an idea that has been discussed for over twenty years but never realized. On the political front, the issue of the annexation of Valvestino and Magasa to Trentino Alto Adige remains open, having been approved in a referendum in 2008 but never implemented. The Autonomous Province of Trento has recently included this option in the new autonomy statute, which is set to be discussed in Rome in the coming weeks, leaving the matter awaiting further developments.
