An important advancement for local healthcare has been made in Desenzano del Garda, where a memorandum of understanding has been signed among the Lombardy Region, the Province of Brescia, ATS Brescia, the Municipality, and ASST Garda. This agreement aims to establish a working group dedicated to evaluating project proposals for the new hospital. The stated goal is to create a modern and flexible facility capable of addressing seismic and epidemic emergencies while ensuring efficient and sustainable healthcare services.
However, controversies have arisen. The committee “Let’s Keep the Desenzano Hospital on Montecroce” has expressed concerns over the lack of public discussion regarding the project, emphasizing that over 8,000 citizens have signed a petition to retain the current hospital. According to the committee, decisions regarding the new hospital’s location will be made without adequately involving the local community and its representatives, casting doubt on the transparency of the decision-making process that will follow the signing of the memorandum.
