Recently, the Alpe del Garda dairy in Tremosine sul Garda has received significant recognition for its production of Grana Padano di montagna, a cheese made exclusively from Brown breed milk. This initiative was launched in 2018 with an investment of 4 million euros, making the dairy one of the smallest yet most innovative within the Grana Padano Protection Consortium. In 2024, Alpe del Garda produced 5,500 wheels of this prized cheese, contributing to 20% of the cooperative’s total revenue, which reached 14.4 million euros.
During a recent visit to the dairy by the president and director of the Grana Padano Consortium, Renato Zaghini and Stefano Berni, it was emphasized that the Grana Padano produced in the mountains represents a local excellence that reflects the unique characteristics of the area. With a total production in 2024 that also includes other specialties such as Formagelle di Tremosine, the dairy not only enhances the local gastronomic heritage but is also committed to sustainability and the quality of its production chains.
