The MusicaRivaFestival is celebrating its fortieth anniversary with a series of events that promise to transform Lake Garda into a cultural epicenter from July 19th to 28th, 2024. This special edition will feature the participation of international artists, young talents, and numerous activities ranging from classical music to workshops, film screenings, and book presentations.
The festival will include about 30 events spread across various picturesque locations in Garda Trentino. These include the Varone Waterfall, the beaches of Garda, the archaeological area of San Martino, the Church of San Lorenzo in Tenno, the Olivet Beach, and the Rocca in Riva del Garda. The Pergine Valsugana Municipal Theater, Martini Palace, and Piazza Tre Novembre will also serve as ideal settings for artistic performances.
Among the most anticipated events is the screening of the documentary film “In the footsteps of the great Yuri Ahronovitch,” dedicated to the renowned conductor who passed away over twenty years ago. There will also be notable performances such as the one by Berklee College of Music graduates together with trumpeter Tiger Okoshi and his band. The festival will also host Tetraktis Percussion with the percussionists from La Scala, as well as renowned musicians like Gilles Apap and Myriam Lafargue.
The presentation of the book “She’s a woman” by music critic Ezio Guaitamacchi will further enrich the cultural program. The grand finale will be the majestic Ninth Symphony by Beethoven performed by the Padua and Veneto Orchestra and the Veneto Lyrical Choir under the direction of Marco Angius. The performance will be enhanced by the choreography of the DEOS Danse Ensemble Opera Studio dancers.
The MusicaRivaFestival is not just about concerts; it also offers advanced courses taught by illustrious teachers such as Mietta Sighele (voice), Massimo Somenzi (piano), Gilles Apap (violin), Marco Tamayo (guitar), and Paolo Taballione (flute). The workshops will feature established musicians like Tetraktis Percussion, Debbie Summa (light vocals), Elvezio Fortunato (electric guitar), and Indian music specialists Ashanka Sen and Arup Kanti Das.
Instrument making workshops complete the educational offerings: Clara Contadini will focus on violins while Marco La Manna will cover guitars.
Lucas Christ, the artistic director of the event, stated, “2024 marks an extraordinary milestone for MusicaRiva, with a showcase that aims to celebrate music in all its forms.” He also emphasized the importance of the breathtaking locations selected to host the commemorative events.
Luca Rizzardo Gianfilippi, president of the MusicaRiva Association, expressed gratitude to sponsors and collaborators, saying, “MusicaRiva Festival celebrates its first 40 years with a great repertoire behind it.”
Deputy Mayor Silvia Betta highlighted the importance of the event for the region, stating, “For Riva and the entire area, it is a very important and significant cultural event,” adding that the festival promotes local young talents through collaborations with other municipalities.
In conclusion, the MusicaRivaFestival confirms itself as an unmissable event that promotes musical excellence in the unique setting offered by Lake Garda.
