Starting today, a new mode of navigation on Lake Maggiore has been introduced, allowing for direct boarding of the ferries and a contactless payment system for purchasing travel tickets. Thanks to EMV technology, passengers can use their bank cards from supported networks to board, avoiding long queues at ticket offices. Each boarding will only require card validation through a simple “tap,” while at the time of disembarkation, the procedure will need to be repeated to ensure the correct charging of the best fare of the day.
The new system not only offers greater flexibility to travelers but also includes a multi-passenger option, allowing the purchase of up to five tickets in a single transaction. Travelers will be able to track their movements through the “Traveler Portal,” further simplifying the navigation experience. Government Manager Pietro Marrapodi emphasized that this initiative represents an important step towards digital innovation and encourages the use of public transport on the lake, making it even more accessible and convenient for everyone.
