November 4th each year marks a significant moment in Italian history, commemorating the end of World War I in 1918. This date not only signifies the conclusion of a devastating conflict but also symbolizes the unification of the country, a milestone achieved through a long journey of struggles and sacrifices. This year’s celebrations will take place in various locations, with particular emphasis on initiatives promoted by the Interforce Command.

Local Initiatives

In preparation for the November 4th celebrations, the Interforce Command has collaborated with the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri and other armed forces present in the Brescia province. These activities aim to raise public awareness about the historical and social significance of the occasion. The official celebration will begin on November 2nd at 10:00 AM with a Holy Mass at the Monumental Cemetery of Vantiniano, where an Interforce Honor Guard will pay tribute to the Fallen alongside representatives of Combatant and Institutional Associations.

Official Ceremony on November 4

On the day of the official celebrations, a ceremony will take place starting at 10:00 AM in Piazza della Loggia. The event will see the participation of civil, religious, and military authorities, along with local students. It will be presided over by the Prefect of the City of Brescia, His Excellency Dr. Andrea Polichetti, who will receive honors from an Interforce Unit. During this ceremony, significant moments will include the Raising of the Flag and the laying of a laurel wreath at the “Diaz Stele Plaque,” followed by the reading of the congratulatory message from the President of the Republic.

Educational Activities for Students

In conjunction with the official celebrations, from 10:15 AM to 12:00 PM, there will be a symbolic presentation of the Flag of the Italian Republic to students of the “Abba Ballini” Technical Commercial Institute. The students will have the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from military personnel regarding their professional experiences and daily missions.

Opening of the Military Airport

In the afternoon of November 4th, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, the “Luigi Olivari” Military Airport in Ghedi will open its doors to the public for guided tours of the exhibition area and the static display of vehicles used by the Flight Unit. This initiative aims to engage the local community and enhance awareness of the Armed Forces’ activities.

Reflections on the Mission of the Armed Forces

The Italian Armed Forces continue to play a crucial role in the stability of the Euro-Atlantic area and in international security. Every day, thousands of military personnel operate both at home and in global crisis theaters. In addition to traditional tasks related to national defense, they are actively involved in humanitarian operations and interventions during natural disasters.

The commemoration of National Unity Day goes beyond mere remembrance of war; it celebrates the freedom achieved through the national unity desired by past generations. The motto of the institutional campaign created by the Ministry of Defense for this occasion – “We Are Italy” – emphasizes the collective value that characterizes this important day for all Italians.
