On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the MITA Cultural Center offers a unique opportunity to explore the exhibition “Turks of Transylvania” through two free guided tours led by curator Giovanni Valagussa. This event represents an extraordinary chance to delve into the history of Ottoman carpets, known as Transylvanian, and their fascinating journey from Anatolia to the heart of Europe.

A Journey Through Time

The guided tours will take place at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM, offering participants the opportunity to discover the precious textile artifacts on display. These carpets are not merely works of art; they tell stories of cultural migrations dating back to the 17th century. Throughout the tour, Valagussa will guide visitors along the Balkan routes that these carpets traversed, reaching the Protestant churches and museums of Romania.

Exhibition Insights

The “Turks of Transylvania” exhibition, inaugurated on October 24, 2024, aims to celebrate the meeting of diverse cultures through its collection. The evocative setup provides a rich historical and cultural context, allowing visitors to appreciate not only the aesthetics of the carpets but also the historical influences that shaped them.

Practical Details

The tours are completely free, and no reservation is required. It is recommended to arrive at least ten minutes before the start of the tours to secure a spot.
