In Peschiera del Garda, a mystery surrounds the body of a 47-year-old recovered from the waters of the lake, sparking significant interest and concern. The corpse of Ghansham Singh, an Indian national, was found on Thursday morning near Lungolago Garibaldi. The alert was raised by a man on a moored boat who spotted the floating body not far from the mouth of the Mincio River. Firefighters from the Bardolino nautical team, the coast guard, state police, and carabinieri from Peschiera all responded to coordinate the recovery operations. Despite the intervention of medical personnel from the emergency services, there was nothing that could be done except to confirm the death.
The carabinieri’s investigations are now focused on several aspects of the case. Singh lived in the area with others, and a friend had reported him missing just hours before the discovery. One friend stated that they had rented a pedal boat on Wednesday morning and that both had fallen into the water after colliding with a boat; while he managed to swim back to shore, Singh did not resurface. However, the lack of independent witnesses casts doubt on this account. An additional disturbing factor is a head injury found on the victim during the initial external examination. The forensic institute will clarify whether this trauma played a role in the death and whether it was a tragic accident or if there are other elements to consider in the carabinieri’s investigation.
