An online petition has gathered nearly 13,000 signatures to urge the reopening of the Strada della Forra, which has been closed since December 15th due to a landslide. The initiative was promoted by a local non-profit association of the same name, which had previously mobilized for a 550-day closure of the road in 2021. The road, referred to as the eighth wonder of the world by Winston Churchill, is a major tourist attraction on Lake Garda.
The petition aims to encourage provincial authorities to adopt new monitoring systems and preventive measures to enable a safe reopening. The signatories express their frustration with the lack of quick solutions and call for immediate interventions to restore access to the road, which is crucial for both tourism and local residents.
