Lonato del Garda is preparing for a significant **redevelopment of Piazza Corlo**, an initiative that will lead to changes in local traffic. Starting from August 18, 2025, the first phase of the works will involve closures and traffic restrictions, aiming to enhance the usability of the square and its surroundings.
## Details of Phase 1 of the Works
According to ordinance no. 250, the northern section of Piazza Corlo (Brescia side) will be completely closed to vehicular traffic, while pedestrian access will still be permitted. Residents will be able to traverse the section connecting Via Regia Antica to Piazza Corlo in both directions. The same regulations will apply to Via Trento and Via Trieste.
Access from Piazza Corlo to the parking area on Via dei Fanti will be prohibited; however, residents will be able to reach it via Via Sant’Antonio, skirting the upper part of the cemetery. For exiting, vehicles must proceed from Via dei Fanti towards Vicolo Tomasi.
To ensure safe passage during the works and until the reopening of access to the parking area from Piazza Corlo, a one-way alternating system will be established for authorized vehicles, regulated by traffic lights. Motorists coming from Via Repubblica (Post Office area) will be able to access the part of the square not affected by the works by turning left onto Via Sorattino.
## Changes to Parking Spaces
The parking spaces located in front of the Church will remain available for temporary parking for one hour. Similarly, the spaces in the parking area known as “fontanone,” near Vicolo Capuccine and Via Sorattino, will also be modified to allow limited parking for one hour. The possibility of reopening the parking area on Via dei Fanti during the construction period will be assessed based on the progress of the works.
At the end of the first phase of the intervention, a complete restoration of traffic flow is expected, and access to the parking area on Via dei Fanti will return to normal.
