Two German tourists were rescued by the Coast Guard in Padenghe after their jet ski began to sink. The alert was raised via the emergency number 112 by the driver while they were one mile from the shore. The patrol boats CP 605 and CP 703 were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide assistance. The two castaways, in constant contact with the operators, were recovered and brought back to shore without the need for medical assistance.
The incident occurred approximately 1.8 km from the coast when the driver noticed that the jet ski was taking on water. The watercraft was retrieved shortly afterward, and the tourists expressed their gratitude towards the rescuers. This episode highlights the importance of always carrying a mobile phone and adhering to navigation regulations, avoiding venturing more than a mile from the shore. Additionally, the Coast Guard has recently launched the “Safe Seas and Lakes 2025” operation to ensure greater safety on the water.
