Yesterday afternoon, on April 17, a rescue operation for boaters took place in the waters off the Municipality of Limone sul Garda, where a catamaran capsized due to strong winds affecting the area. The two occupants of the vessel, who found themselves in difficulty about two hundred meters from the shore, launched three red flares to signal their emergency. This distress signal was noticed by some passersby on the shore, who promptly alerted the operations room of the Salò Coast Guard.
Responding swiftly, the patrol boat from the State Police’s Inland Waterways Unit reached the capsized catamaran within minutes. The rescuers managed to recover both boaters: one was saved directly from the water, while the other was clinging to the hull. After stabilizing the vessel, both were brought back to the port of Limone. The Coast Guard emphasized the importance of checking weather alerts before embarking on boating or sporting activities.
