The renovation work for Pope John XXIII Square in Lonato del Garda, located in the “Lonato 2” district, is imminent. The project, announced last October and approved by the municipal council, involves an investment of 200,000 euros, primarily funded by municipal resources and supported by the regional call for proposals “Commerce Districts 2022-2024.” Mayor Roberto Tardani emphasized the significance of the project, which aims to transform the square into a modern and accessible space, ideal for hosting events and various activities, thereby enhancing the livability and dynamism of the city. The work is expected to be completed by the beginning of summer.
The square, covering an area of approximately 4,300 m², is currently in a state of deterioration due to atmospheric erosion and vandalism. The renovation will include extraordinary maintenance to improve the safety and functionality of the area. Planned interventions include the removal of pillars that obstruct vehicle access, the restoration of the pavement, the enhancement of lighting, and the installation of public benches. These improvements aim to provide the community with a vibrant place for gatherings and leisure.
