Rita Farina Elected President of Colline Moreniche del Garda Association

It is Rita Farina, a young cultural councilor from the municipality of Ponti sul Mincio, who has been appointed as the new president of the ASSOCIAZIONE Colline Moreniche del Garda.

The appointment was unanimously approved on Wednesday 4 in Ponti sul Mincio, during the association’s general assembly, upon the proposal of Cavriana’s mayor, Bruno Righetti.

Farina’s election is, in a sense, a difficult one, as she replaces the president elected two years ago: Giuseppe Zecchini, who is unfortunately bedridden due to an illness with slim prospects for recovery.

Rita Farina joined the Colline Moreniche association about a year ago, when the current president was struck by illness.

She had joined with Bruno Righetti to replace two resigning councilors, and on Wednesday 4 she was appointed to the leadership of the association; her term will last one year.

Prospects and initiatives of the association

The new president already has clear ideas about her commitment, albeit limited in time.

She states: “I believe that the association should not only plan certain events, but also act as a driving force — a union — among the various municipalities that make up the association when they organize festivals or fairs, and additionally, it should organize other events: for example, at Christmas, in collaboration with the municipalities themselves.”

Farina continues: “Ideally, we would create a calendar of all these events to submit to the Province.

Another project she is working on as the cultural assessor of Ponti sul Mincio involves collaboration among the municipalities of the association to organize excursions around the area, especially involving schools.

It could be useful to create packages that illustrate the itineraries and involve not only teachers but also volunteers.

For example, visits to historic monuments of a town, with teachers and locals familiar with the area and its history, who can transmit engaging stories rather than dry facts and emotionally involve the students.

Finally, regarding the “Progetto Scienze,” which took place recently and was very successful, the new president has an ambitious plan she hopes to realize:

“Yes, I would like to create an organizing committee, which would include a small scientific committee and a second small committee to evaluate the proposals presented. A committee composed of two representatives from each of the eight towns that are part of the associazione Turistica Colline Moreniche del Garda. Only in this way can projects like “Progetto Scienze” have a future.”
