The first section of the Trentino Garda Cycle Path was inaugurated over the weekend, comprising approximately 1 kilometer that connects Riva del Garda to the “Spiaggia dello Sperone.” This project, funded by a provincial investment of 11.2 million euros, marks a significant milestone for sustainable mobility in the area and was attended by the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti. The work, anticipated by local administrators since 2019, was designed with a strong focus on the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, incorporating artificial rockfall galleries to mitigate the risk of falling rocks along the route.
The inaugurated section runs along the remnants of the former SS45 road and also includes protective measures on the rocky walls. During the inauguration, key figures involved in the project were present, including extraordinary commissioner Francesco Misdaris and other provincial officials. Furthermore, it was announced that the connection to the fortified complex “Tagliata del Ponale” will be completed by next autumn. To further ensure the safety of users of the cycle path, access to the SS45bis at Sperone has been closed until the completion of the next section of the functional unit.
