Rivoltella Lakeside Walk Project Could Surpass Desenzano
A single, long lakeside walk between La Spiaggia d’oro and Madonna della Villa? It can be done. And if the project actually materializes, then Rivoltella, the most populous and significant district of the main town, formerly an independent municipality, could surpass Desenzano in terms of lakeside extent.
Giovanni Venieri, the councilor for General Services of the Desenzano Municipality, has more than a few certainties to support this statement: an advance given during the ribbon-cutting ceremony of La Spiaggia d’oro on Friday evening.
The municipal administration, in fact, is just a step away from an agreement with the center Raphael, located in the former Antoniano Institute in Rivoltella, to obtain authorization to open a lakeside passage beneath the walls of the large building.
And if the operation indeed comes to fruition, a lakeside walk without comparison to Desenzano would be realized: starting from La Spiaggia d’oro, passing through the former Antoniano and the Rivoltella beach (adjacent to the small port), then continuing along the other pedestrian path under construction between the same marina and Madonna della Villa.
Current status and future projects
A feasible dream, considering that most of this route is already effectively acquired: only the section of the shoreline (originally a fishing spot) below the Raphael Center remains, along with some minor finishing works.
Meanwhile, as mentioned, since Friday the most modern bathing center in the town, La Spiaggia d’oro, has reopened. Over 17,000 square meters of space, including 9,500 of green areas, open from 9 a.m. to around midnight.
Additionally, a large promenade that could also host musical events or attractions, bike and pedal boat rentals, a play area nearing completion, and a large parking lot for cars.
The entire project cost 800 million euros: this is the introduction to the renovated bathing facility.
“We invite the residents of Desenzano and tourists to enjoy this facility,” emphasized Mayor Cino Anelli. “It is a modern and functional area, built after many setbacks caused by bureaucratic delays (notably the interventions of the Superintendence): the administration has not carried out any land clearing, and the area was not damaged. Now the controversies are over, and we look to the future.”
The bathing center, as a reminder, will be managed by a cooperative of hoteliers, the “Garda Executive”.
