During the past weekend, intensive road checks took place in the Upper Garda area, thanks to the efforts of the Carabinieri from the Riva del Garda Company and the stations in Torbole, Arco, and Ledro, assisted by the canine unit from Laives. These operations focused on the reggae music festival “Era òra” at Le Busatte, in the municipality of Nago Torbole, with the primary goal of preventing drug use and trafficking among young people and combating driving under the influence of alcohol. During the two evenings of the operation, six patrols conducted road checks, breathalyzer tests, and searches.
The results were significant: 12 young individuals under the age of 30 were reported for possession of narcotics, including hashish, marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine. In total, over 40 grams of hashish, 11 doses of cocaine, and nearly 5 grams of ketamine were seized. Additionally, a twenty-year-old woman was caught driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limits; this resulted in a three-month license suspension and a fine of 543 euros. Finally, five drivers were fined for various violations of the Highway Code, amounting to a total close to 400 euros.
