The Hotel Savoy in Gardone Riviera recently hosted the 23rd edition of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) training program, a significant event organized by Rotary District 2050. This initiative saw the participation of over 50 young people, both girls and boys, who had the opportunity not only to develop their leadership skills but also to have fun and create new social connections.
The central theme of the event was “Traveling is not discovering new lands, but having new eyes.” This concept guided the participants through a training journey aimed at preparing them for the transition from a student to a professional setting. In this context, the fundamental values promoted by Rotary were highlighted: service, friendship, diversity, integrity, and leadership.
Luigi Maione, the district governor, emphasized the importance of programs aimed at younger generations. He made it clear that for Rotary, “leadership” means avoiding exclusions and offering opportunities to everyone indiscriminately. The goal is to leave no one behind, paying particular attention to the weakest and most unfortunate.
Rotary leaders are committed to creating hope and serving others above personal interests. Through numerous projects and services, they aim to ensure that every individual in the communities where they operate has equal opportunities. This inclusive approach translates into a tangible positive impact on local communities and society as a whole.
