An important collaboration agreement has been signed in Salò between the Municipality and Caritas for the implementation of the “Social Pantry.” This project involves collecting surplus food from local supermarkets, which will be distributed every two weeks to individuals in need who request assistance. The synergy between the Municipality, the Parish Caritas, and other associations such as Maremosso, Cauto, and Garda Sociale aims to combat food waste and provide more effective support to vulnerable families.
The Regulation for the Shared Administration of Common Goods, approved in 2023 but never implemented until now, is finally being put into practice through this initiative. The Councillor for Social Services, Marcella Merigo, emphasized the importance of promoting a collaborative network between citizens and institutions to responsibly address social challenges. To access the Social Pantry, individuals must register by the 5th of each month by directly contacting the social services office.
