Salò triumphs at the Junior European Championships in the 49er class

Giovanni Santi and Alex Demurtas have won the bronze medal in the 49er class at the 2025 Junior European Championships, held from November 6 to 9 in Palermo, at the Circolo Velico Sferracavallo. The two sailors, representing the Società Canottieri Garda Salò, finished behind the Italian team composed of Lorenzo Pezzilli and Tobia Torroni, while the gold medal went to the Irish duo Ben O’Shaughnessy and Ethan Spain. This achievement comes just days after they secured the absolute and Under 23 Italian title, also in Palermo. The competition featured 41 boats from 14 countries, providing a stage for young sailing talents. In addition to the bronze won by Santi and Demurtas, the Garda club also celebrated gold in the non-Olympic 49er FX Open class, claimed by Massimo Perini and Augusto Cardellini, with the Bonizzoni brothers taking the third spot on the podium.
