Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Phone Call Frauds

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they were after money, no longer make themselves visible.
