Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and High Garda areas, offering subscriptions to arm magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or Comune (Municipal Office).

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you have the feeling you may have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, no longer appear in person.
