Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The perpetrators impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune (municipal police).

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, tend to disappear without a trace.
