Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the arm.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, disappear without a trace.
