Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region, Warn Authorities

The suspects impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have become their target by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer appears.
