Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri—simply dial 112—as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they were after money, stop appearing and disappear.
