Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or Municipal inspectors.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear.
