Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
