Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri, Police to Target Garda Areas

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money in mind, cease all contact.
