Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Artisans

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or Comune (Municipality) authorities.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer show themselves.
