Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money but no longer makes their presence known.
