Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions related to the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal police authorities.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they demand money, disappear and are no longer visible.
