Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after getting the money, disappear without a trace.
