Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
