Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to their publications.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112—at the first sign that you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, do not return or show themselves again.
