Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when telephone-contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.
These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing the scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they are after money, no longer show themselves.
