Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
